Description

“Huh. It appears that Brutus has failed to capture Slim...”

Murdok stood on a pile of junk in a yard just outside the city limits, the others (including Spike) looking up at him from the ground. “You see them, Murdok?”

“Yep,” he slid down the pile and started for the yard’s exit. “Let’s roll!”

~~~~
“How much longer, Slim?” They kept running farther and farther away from Moxtown, and Vector wasn’t quite sure they’ve gotten away entirely. Slim looked around for any place to hide; all around them were hills and fields, not a lot of good hiding spots. There was however, a farmhouse of sorts in the distance. “Let’s head there!”
They found a back door, but it was locked. “Stand back...” and with that, Slim had head-butted the door open. They made their way inside. It was dark, and the smell of hay filled their nostrils as they wandered in what sounded like a fairly large room, which echoed their footsteps. “We’ll hang around here and catch our breath” Slim whispered, and slumped down into a pile of hay. Vector followed suit.
MMMMMRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOHH!!!
The duo jolted upright at the low bellowing. Slim turned around to find himself face-to-face with a fairly peeved Tauros. “Get off my hay, freeloaders!” the Tauros mooed loudly. The two complied, got up and backed away.
They wandered about the large room, their eyes already accustomed to the dark. Above them was a high, steel-beamed ceiling with large industrial fans keeping the room cool. They were standing in an aisle of sorts among many, surrounded by open stables consisting of Tauros and Miltank; it looked rather crowded despite how big the room was.
Slim looked around at all the various equipment hung up alongside each wall, “This must be where we get our meat from...”
“Uh, Slim? You probably shouldn’t have said that” but it was too late – nearby cattle overheard his remark, and started to panic, slamming their big bodies against the hardwood gates keeping them in.
“Dude, let’s get out of here, before anyone catches us!” they saw double doors on the other side of the room, and were about to head towards them when they heard a door open from the right.
“WHAT THE HELL’S GOIN’ ON HERE!?”
~~~~

Murdok and his men scoured the fields not too far away. “See anything yet?” he called out.

“Nuthin’ yet sir!” they replied. All of a sudden, he felt Spike tug at his leash: he had found a trail. “Good work, boy, lead us to them!” Spike dashed towards the cattle house, with Murdok and the others in pursuit. They were soon at the back entrance and had kicked open the door.

~~~~
Vector and Slim spun around and saw Murdok and Spike, as well as a few other Scrafty, begin chase from the door they had just entered through earlier. Paying no heed to the angry farmer, an Ambipom in overalls, they hurried in the opposite direction.
In an attempt to slow their pursuers, Slim unlatched some of the gates to the stables, allowing panicking Tauros and Miltank to run amok. “Good idea!” Vector yelled above the noise off romping hooves, and proceeded to release even more Tauros.
“I know righ—“ but before Slim could say more, the herd had trampled over them, leaving them to struggle between raging bulls. However, they regained composure and hung on tightly to their horns.
As they looked back, they saw Murdok and the others, caught up in the stampede as well. “BOO-YAAH!!” Slim exclaimed as the bulls burst through the metal doors and into another, smaller room. This room had various pieces of machinery, including those used to retrieve milk from Miltank, and meat grinders.
Above them were hooks for hanging slabs of meat. “Quick, grab on!” they jumped off their express ride and climbed up the ropes holding the hooks, all the way up to the ceiling.
They hid behind a mass of beams, just as Murdok and the others came in. “Damn these cows!” he spat out in frustration. “We can’t let them get away!”
Just then the farmer came in, furious. “You there! Stop wrecking my farm and GET OUT OF HERE!!” In his tail-hands was a pitchfork, pointed directly at Murdok.
“Now hold up, old man! We’re here to catch a fugitive. It’s THEIR fault your farm—“
“I don’t care! You’re trespassing, and your meddling just cost me some of my fine livestock!” The farmer edged closer with his pitchfork, ready to prod the gang like stubborn mules.
“Alright, fine, we’ll leave! C’mon guys.” Murdok turned to the nearest exit, as pointed out by the farmer, the others following suit. All except Spike, who kept looking around, sniffing the air, before being pulled back to the gang.
Slim let out a quiet sigh, “man that was close...”
